KFC in India to Offer More Veg Choices
KFC has announced their interest in increasing its vegetarian
offerings in India to cater to the interest of 1/3 of the
population. Unnat Verma, KFC's marketing director, said: “If one has
to grow as a large brand, it’s important to cater to the needs of a
mass majority. We cannot overlook vegetarians, who comprise almost
one-third of the population. These are (also) the ones who have veto
power to decide on the eatery or food-joint. We didn’t want this
veto power to work against us, especially when 95 per cent of
eating-out occasions are group ones. So, we decided to extend our
vegetarian menu.”

There is an increasing pressure on fast food restaurants to cater
to the taste and food choices of vegetarians, whose numbers are
growing rapidly. Consumers have certainly the power and
responsibility to support those industries and businesses that show
good stewardship of God's Creation. It is important to highlight
that KFC's decision to increase vegetarian choices in their menu in
India is solely driven by profit and not compassion.
