Topps Meat Co. Goes out of Business
Just a few days
after they issued the second-largest beef recall in U.S. history,
Topps Meat Co. announced this month that it's going out of business.
The 21.7 million-pound recall of ground beef might have been
contaminated with the E. coli bacteria strain O157:H7. These
bacteria are found in the intestines of cattle, and improper
butchering and processing can cause the E. coli to get onto meat.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention thirty
people in eight states had E. coli infections matching the strain
