1. A Nation of Diabetes

The US is a nation of diabetes. Half of all Americans have either diabetes or pre-diabetes, according to a new report by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). The good news is the high rates of diabetes seem the have plateaued. Clearly, lifestyle choices (diet and exercise) are the most effective way to prevent and reverse diabetes.

A well-balanced plant-based diet has been shown to be very effective at the time of preventing the most chronic disease that plague our society, including diabetes. Why not show compassion to our bodies and to animals at the same time, thus taking care of our bodies and alleviating unnecessary suffering?

Some people think the plant-based, whole-foods diet is extreme. Half a million people a year will have their chests opened up and a vein taken from their leg and sewn onto their coronary artery. Some people would call that extreme.

3. Another Plant-Based Success Story

Patricia Slimbarski, a 64 year-old woman who had been through heart surgeries due to atherosclerosis (1 bypass and 8 stents) and who had been dealing with type 2 diabetes for years with daily injections, chose to take charge of her own health and adopted a plant-based diet.

Within 18 months of eating healthy, she dropped 50 pounds, came off of all her diabetes medications and several of her blood pressure pills. In short, she went from two shots and thirteen pills a day to no shots and only three pills a day.
