1. Humans Don’t Need to Consume Dairy

The scientific evidence indicating well-balanced plant-based diets supply all the calcium we need are overwhelming. In this piece, Rosane Oliveira, DVM, PhD, explains how much calcium we need, what are the best sources, and also why dairy is not a good calcium source. Please visit Getting Clarity About Calcium.

Cow’s milk is for calves, and goat’s milk is for baby goats, called kids. Human infants ideally should consume human breast milk, and once weaned we should get calcium from plant-based sources. After all, our bodies have a physiology of peace, and no animals need to be exploited or killed for us to live healthy lives.

2. This Week’s Famous Quote

When a human being kills an animal for food, he is neglecting his own hunger for justice. Man prays for mercy, but is unwilling to extend it to others. Why then should man expect mercy from God? It is unfair to expect something that you are not willing to give.
—Isaac Bashevis Singer, writer and Nobel laureate (1902–1991)

3. How a Trucker Took Charge of His Health with a Vegan Diet

Bobby Anderson, a truck driver spending about 14 hours a day, six days a week, behind a wheel, experienced the negative health effects of hissedentary lifestyle and unhealthy mealson the road. He decided to take charge of his health and adopted a balanced vegan diet. 4. This Week’s Bible Verse
(RSV) Hebrews 13:3

Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them; and those who are ill-treated, since you also are in the body.

I think that the word "those" should be applied to all sentient beings. Farm animals are prisoners. They cannot escape suffering and death in our hands. They are ill-treated on a daily basis, unable to even express their most basic God-given instincts and drives. When they suffer, we suffer. We reap what we sow.

5. Men (and Women) Should Eat Vegan

Robert Atcheson, a veteran Marine and former captain in the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department, who’d grown up on a farm helping his family raise and slaughter hogs. He lived a life of discipline and ate animals throughout his life. However, thanks to his daughter, he was exposed to the benefits of a plant-based diet and decided to embrace it. Now he encourages others, in particular men, to look into the preventive and healing properties of a healthy, balanced, vegan diet.
