1. Doctor’s Orders!

Neal Priest, emergency room physician at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, GA, explains that disease and diet are intimately related. He states that “Strokes, heart attacks, most cancers, obesity, inflammatory bowel diseases, many types of arthritis, Alzheimer’s, erectile dysfunction, peripheral vascular diseases, many viral and bacterial illnesses, and more are caused or worsened by a single class of substances: animal products.”

Kudos for all the physicians around the world that encourage their patients to transitions to a plant-based diet in order to get healthier! What’s even better, is that many of these physicians, like Neal Priest, have also made the connection between animal products, environmental devastation and the suffering of God’s animals.

2. This Week’s Famous Quote

The pollution of our shared consciousness-field by the dark agonies endured by billions of animals killed for food is an unrecognized fact that impedes our social progress and contributes gigantically to human violence and the warfare that is constantly erupting around the world.

~ Will Tuttle, World Peace Diet

3.  Red Meat Consumptions Increases Mortality Rate

One of the longest and most comprehensive studies on the link between meat and cancer was carried out by scientists at Harvard. The study concluded that red meat consumption was associated with living a significantly shorter life (increased cancer mortality, increased heart disease mortality, and increased overall mortality.) Dr. Frank Hu, professor of nutrition and epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health and co-author of the study published in the journal Archives of Internal Medicine said, "What is surprising is the magnitude of risk associated with very moderate red meat consumption."... "I think the public health message is pretty straightforward, we should switch from a red meat-based diet to a plant-based diet with healthier protein choices."

It's so absurd to hear people say "everything in moderation"! What about violence, abuse, terror, disease and suffering in moderation? As stewards of God's Creation we should strive to end suffering, abuse and violence to the best of our abilities. Even if a serving of red meat once in a while might not seem to affect health significantly, we should still take into account the suffering of God's animals and the environmental devastation on the planet.

As Dr. Dean Ornish says, "What is personally sustainable is globally sustainable. What is good for you is good for our planet."

4. This Week’s Bible Verse

(RSV) Romans 12:1

I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

How great it is to offer our bodies to God, especially when we take good care of them while at the same time alleviating suffering and helping restore the environment!

5. Western Diet Reduces Cognitive Abilities

After decades of reviewing and analyzing data, Australian researches concluded that the typical Western diet or HFS diet (high in fats and sugar) may reduce cognitive abilities such as episodic memory, attention and inhibition.

Abundant scientific evidence indicates once again that a well-balanced plant-based diet, which is low in fat and sugars, is healing for our bodies. Much suffering and devastation is alleviated when our choice of diet is aligned with our inner-self, our values and our faith. Choosing kindness and compassion benefits everyone!

6. This Week’s Video: Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel Endorses Engine 2 Diet

Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel publicly got behind plant-based eating earlier this month by saying the ENGINE 2 DIET has improved his running times.  He also believes that Chicago's healthcare costs could be dramatically reduced if more people simply decided go plant-strong.
